It’s About Time!

Welcome to my first post!

I’m excited to finally birth the blog I’ve been brooding over for an eternity. Yay for crippling self-doubt, amirite?

The purpose of this blog is to share musings, things I’ve learned, creative expression, and simply to have a little spot of the internet I can call my own. I’m excited to explore a range of topics, develop my writing skills and have you along for the journey.

Ever since I left high school, I’ve been stuck writing technical papers of all sorts. I mean, I can probably count the number of essays I wrote at university on one hand. Among the rest were scientific research reports and more recently for work, financial statements of advice. It’s hard to have the energy to write creatively after spending all day buried in one-dimensional compliance documents, despite my enjoyment for working in the industry. I’m just heaps rusty, yo.

Crystal Violet is the project’s name; an allusion to gram staining in microbiology (look at this frickin’ nerd!). I’m also one of those lucky people who work in an industry (financial planning) not even remotely related to their degree (biological science). It sure does spice up one’s life plans.

Either way, you can expect a word or two on topics such as: life science, philosophy, personal finance and really, whatever tickles my fancy. So look out for some surprises.

It’s about time I get out of my own way. Let’s do this.
